Ellesmere Island Traverse

Trekking at 79° North - in Canada’s Eastern Arctic. Traverse a glacial corridor less than 700 miles from the North Pole.Follow in the footsteps of ancient inuit nomads and legendary Norwegian explorer, Otto Sverdrup. Ellesmere Island is a polar desert with dry, mild summers and a tundra of sedges, willows and colourful Arctic poppies. Stunning scenery; lofty mountain ranges, deep fiords, jutting headlands, calving tidewater glaciers and icebergs. Wildlife sightings may include Muskoxen, Peary caribou, arctic hare, arctic wolves and marine mammals. Bird life includes Arctic terns, ringed plovers, ruddy turnstones and rock ptarmigan. Hiking Expedition Sirmilik National Park

Our trek showcases Baffin’s incredible scenery and variety of terrain. This is a landscape of towering ice-capped mountains, lush tundra valleys, glaciers and unique eroded formations known as "Hoodoos".
