Sea Kayaking Expedition North Baffin Island

Paddle and explore in one of the world's most remote and inspiring landscapes

With arctic seas frozen for eight months a year, August sea kayaking in North Baffin is a wonderful window of opportunity not to be missed. July is considered break up month, when the sea ice begins to disappear and open water makes a welcome return. Late July, August and early September are the best times to experience the spectacular mountain scenery with the deep fiords, deserted sandy beaches and hidden campsites. Sea kayakers will understand the excitement of paddling past icebergs or the joy of encountering whales and great varieties of birds. Modern touring sea kayaks are rated the best way to explore this incredible part of Canada’s North during the short summer. Feathercraft K2 expedition double kayaks are supplied. Departing from Pond Inlet by chartered boat you spend the next 10 days enjoying and exploring this enchanting maritime region. During the sea kayaking trip you have many opportunities to fish for Arctic Char, hike and explore the ever intriguing shoreline. Kayaking is always subject to sea conditions and average daily paddle time is about five or six hours. During the trip, time is always made for important things like photography and filming. You can sea kayak anywhere – it’s the magical of this arctic destination that makes it different. A very good reasons to visit Nunavut this summer.
